The School of Veterinary Medicine is fully authorized by the government of Grenada to confer the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree upon those candidates who successfully complete its academic requirements.
The School continues to keep pace with the latest veterinary medical knowledge and technology, expanding its curriculum and adding new, state-of-the-art laboratories. The first two years of the four-year veterinary medical program includes the study of basic veterinary medical sciences. In the third year, students proceed to the introductory stages of their clinical work.
In their third year of study, students work on the horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, and goats in St. George’s University’s pastures. They are also awarded the opportunity to work alongside veterinary tutors at the SGU Small Animal Hospital, which provides unique clinical opportunities often not seen elsewhere until the final year of veterinary medical school.
SGU is affiliated with 29 school of veterinary medicine. Twenty-three of these affiliated schools are in the United States, two are in the United Kingdom, two are in Canada, one is in Ireland, and one is in Australia. SGU students spend their final clinical years alongside students enrolled in those institutions.
