Dr. Arno Werners obtained his DVM degree from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University in 1999. He stayed at Utrecht as a junior lecturer and researcher in veterinary pharmacology and toxicology and combined his work at Utrecht with a position at an equine referral practice focusing on equine respiratory diseases.
He enrolled in both a PhD program studying the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic interventions of equine endotoxemia and in a residency in veterinary pharmacology and toxicology. Both programs were completed in 2005, after which he joined the equine medicine team in the clinic of the Department of Equine Sciences at Utrecht University for a residency program in equine internal medicine. After a brief spell at the pharmacology and toxicology section, Dr. Werners accepted a position at the University of Cambridge in 2010, before moving to St. George’s, Grenada to head the pharmacology section at the school of veterinary medicine. Dr. Werners obtained a Utrecht University teaching degree in 2009 and has been teaching basic and clinical pharmacology for over 10 years.
