Ravindra Sharma received all of his profession education from Agra University in India. He earned a BVSc and AH in 1961, a MVSc in Veterinary Pathology in 1965, and a PhD in Veterinary Pathology in 1974.
Dr. Sharma has been engaged in Teaching, Disease Diagnosis, and Research since May, 1965 in many different capacities. He is currently the Associate Director of Research and since 2000 he has held the position of Professor of Veterinary Pathology and Director of Pathobiology Academic Program at the School of Veterinary Medicine, St. George`s University, Grenada and St. George’s University. Part of his teaching experience has included guidance and supervision of post graduate students (2 doctoral thesis, 9 graduate thesis)
In 1975, Dr. Sharma received the national “Jawahar Lal Nehru Award” for outstanding research contribution in the field of veterinary pathology in India, and in 2008 was the recipient of “Pfizer Award for Research Excellence” for outstanding achievement and dedication in the Field of Veterinary Medicine at St George’s University.

Sharma, RN. Organized and Established Diagnostic and Consultancy Services to Poultry farmers in the Republic of Zambia as an Expert for Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation (CFTC).
Sharma, RN. Diagnosed Marek’s Disease for the First Time in India (1971) and Development of the diagnostic reagents and procedures for the same (1973-74). This Achievement was commended by the National Research Award.
Sharma, RN. Diagnosed Infectious Bursal Disease for the First Time in Zambia (1978) and studied epidemiology of Newcastle disease (1982-84). Based on the findings vaccination policy for these two major diseases of poultry was formulated in Zambia.
Sharma, RN. Isolated many Salmonella Serotypes from Livestock and Poultry - for the first time in the Rep. of Zambia and formulated control measures for the same. Work on breeding flocks and hatcheries made Zambia free of fowl typhoid.
Sharma, RN. Seroprevalence of Toxoplasmosis, leptospirosis and Hanta virus (zoonotic agents) in chickens and rats in Grenada. This is the first report of identification of zoonotic pathogens in rats and chickens in Grenada.
