Emerging Infectious Diseases, Zoonotic Diseases Prevention and Control, Food Safety and Food Security, One Health, One Medicine Concept

Dr. Satesh Bidaisee is an Assistant Professor and the Deputy Chairman for the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in the School of Medicine at St. George’s University, Grenada. He teaches courses in Infectious Diseases and Public Health, Veterinary Applications to Public Health as well as coordinates the Practicum and Alumni Relations component of the department. He has previously taught at the University of Trinidad and Tobago where he instructed courses for the Masters in Health Administration Programme as well as served as theNational Coordinator of Community Health Care for the Ministry of Health in Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr. Bidaisee is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine where he received undergraduate training in the life sciences and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2006. In 2008, Dr. Bidaisee also completed a Master of Science in Public Health at St. George’s University. Dr. Bidaisee is active on several committees including the Admissions and Graduation, Practicum and Capstone and Orientation committee.

Since 2008, Dr. Bidaisee has been a member of the Grenada Public Health Association, the American Public Health Association, and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Veterinary Public Health Global Network. In addition, Dr. Bidaisee also serves as an advisor on the council of the Caribbean Youth Volunteer Service, a non-profit, independent and non-sectarian youth based organization established to promote and support volunteer activities in the Caribbean region.

As a research investigator, Dr. Bidaisee supports community-based participatory activities in his interests which include Zoonotic Disease Prevention and Control, Emerging Infectious Diseases, Food Safety and Food Security and the pursuit of the One Health concept.
