Scholarships

The University offers a wide variety of institutional scholarships designed to recognize academic excellence and provide access to the best and brightest students regardless of circumstance. In addition to University-Sponsored Scholarships, we have worked to procure unique scholarship opportunities for our students.

The Commonwealth-Grenada St. George’s University Scholarship Program
School of Arts and Sciences
Academically gifted students with limited resources deserve the ability to reach their potential. SGU recognizes this, and that’s why in January 2007 the University launched The Commonwealth-Grenada St. George’s University Scholarship Program (CGSP).

The program includes 75 scholarships; 25 for the Master of Public Health program, 25 for the Master of Business Administration program, 10 for the School of Arts and Sciences, 10 for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, and 5 for the Doctor of Medicine program.   A Commonwealth-Grenada St. George’s University Scholarship Committee established by the University awards the scholarships. To date, 20 scholarships have been awarded to students from eight different Commonwealth countries. While the $4 million (USD) program will fully fund tuition, students will require separate support for living and traveling expenses.

Currently there are 7 Commonwealth-Grenada Scholarships available for eligible students entering the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.  These scholarships are designed to train veterinary surgeons who will be well equipped to make a significant contribution to the practice of veterinary medicine in disadvantaged Commonwealth countries.

A prospective scholarship candidate must be a resident citizen of a Commonwealth country who has been accepted to St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine. SGU will maintain strict adherence to its admission requirements. Award determinations will be made by the Commonwealth-Grenada St. George’s University Scholarship Committee based primarily on academic excellence, financial need and the student’s commitment to the field of veterinary medicine.

Applicants of the Commonwealth-Grenada scholarship must be accepted to St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine and submit the scholarship application with an essay by the scholarship application deadline.

  • The deadline for the August class is April 15
  • The deadline for the January class is September 15

Commonwealth-Grenada Scholarship candidates must include the following essay with their scholarship application:
Envision yourself at 70 years of age.  Describe the impact this scholarship has made on your life, and the difference that this has made in your community and country.
(500 words)

Undergraduate Scholarship Programs for Full-time or Part-time Students
St. George’s University offers partial-tuition scholarships to resident citizens of CARICOM countries who otherwise, due to financial constraints, could not attend the School. The following scholarship programs are only for attendance in the undergraduate programs at St. George’s University.

Caribbean Undergraduate Scholarship Program
The Caribbean Undergraduate Scholarship Program (CUSP) offers partial-tuition scholarships to CARICOM resident citizens that can reduce the amount of tuition for undergraduate studies by up to 65%. Awards for the CUSP are for the duration of the undergraduate program.

Caribbean Visionary Scholarship
The Caribbean Visionary Scholarship seeks to make tertiary education possible for some of the region’s top scholars who might otherwise be unable to attend university. Recipients, who must be CARICOM citizens, will be able to utilize these full- and partial-tuition scholarships in order to pursue one of the undergraduate degrees within the School of Arts and Sciences at SGU. The Caribbean Visionary Scholarships are designed to complement the need-based Caribbean Undergraduate Scholarship Program (CUSP) already offered by the University.
