The School of Arts and Sciences is currently seeking applicants for an Assistant/Associate level professor in wildlife biology, tropical ecology and/or conservation biology. A PhD in one of the above fields or a closely related field is preferred. The successful candidate will have a record of research excellence in conservation of biodiversity, species and ecosystems.  Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate significant mentorship of undergraduate research and a record of teaching excellence. The applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate courses including: Ecology, Mammalogy, Scientific Technical Writing, Conservation Biology and some general education courses. Proficiency in GPS/GIS is preferred.

Demonstrated instructional proficiency is required, as the emphasis will be on teaching. As mentioned, previous research experience is required since student research is incorporated into much of the coursework, and research accomplishment is required for promotion. Demonstrated collaboration skills are needed to develop external relationships with governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, professional societies and the general public and for internal working relationships. Success in collaborative partnerships will be greatly enhanced if the applicant has “real-world” experience working in positions involving conservation and land management.
