Installing Silverlight Plug-in on a Mac

After accessing a Mediasite presentation you would be prompted to install Silverlight.

Click on the “Get Microsoft Silverlight” button

On the Microsoft Silverlight download page click on “Click to Install” button to begin downloading

 

click on “Click to Install” button

 

Click on “Continue” to continue downloading the Silverlight installation package

 

Click on “Continue”

 

After the package has been downloaded click on “Continue” to run the package and begin the installation

  • At the Introduction page press “Continue
  • On the License page press “Continue” and “Agree” to the terms of the software license agreement
  • Select the destination of the installation and press “Continue
  • Click “Install” to perform a basic installation of this software package on the volume
  • The installer will require authentication. Your administrative user name and password will need to be inputted
  • When the installation is complete you will be prompted to restart the browser
  • Click on “Close” to terminate the installation program

Quit and restart the browser

Streaming Mediasite on Mac OS X

Playback of Mediasite presentations on Mac OS X is accomplished by the implementation of Microsoft Silverlight.

Mac OS X System Requirements:

Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later

Safari 2.0.4 or later or Firefox 2.0 or later

Silverlight (viewers are prompted to install this when attempting to view a presentation)*

Broadband Internet connection (256 Kbps or more)

*Silverlight version 1 is the only version of Microsoft Silverlight supported on PowerPC Macs

Note: Variable speed playback is not currently supported in Silverlight.

Please also note that presentation streams are affected by limited internet bandwidth.

If you are not seeing the error message you are getting here, please stop by the IT Help Desk or open a SHOR (shor.sgu.edu) request.

NOTE: When creating your SHOR request please indicate the following:

  1. The exact error you are getting.
  2. The operating system you are using (ex. Mac OS, Linux, XP, Vista, etc).
  3. Which browser you are currently using.
  4. The presentation you are trying to access (date, time, and presentation name)
  5. It would be helpful if you also indicate the date and time you were trying to access the links and whether you are having trouble accessing the link on or/and off campus.
